Expanding the Availability of Japanese Fashion Brands

gyaru_kei

It’s a no brainer that I am in love with eccentric fashion! If you haven’t known… well now you do! I have been a part of a particular Japanese subculture called gyaru for about seven years, experimenting with my looks and fashion sense as I saw fit. I initially used shops catered towards teens around Chicago, went to thrift stores and second hand shops, even customized clothes and made some by hand to be able to create my looks to show off my creative side. Whether they were all on point or nah… is a different story, but I had a lot of fun creating looks and merging things I liked together.
One of the biggest things for the people who were into this fashion over the years, was that unless you had a hook up with someone in Japan, you had to make do with what you could find in the states. Some people where able to use shopping services, or shopped at stores that catered to this fashion in Japan to be able to copy the latest styles that catered to the fashion subculture. If these people decided to resell their clothing, then maybe you would be able to get your hands on some Japanese brand goodies.

Japanese Brands Breaking into the Market

With the last two Anime Expo’s in Los Angeles, there was a breakthrough for people who had a love for some of the brands. They were able to purchase from some of their favorite vendors in person without the hassle of traveling to Japan, going through shopping services, or just simply missing out. Along with this, some of the shops that had more popularity in the states decided to open up their sites for Western shoppers to be able to partake in the shopping experience.
Though a lot of the clothes still run quite petite, it is still wonderful step forward for fashionistas who like Japanese fashion!
You can check out YesStyle.com to check out some of the clothes available such as Golds Infinity.

Brow game

It has been soooo long since I've done my eyebrows! I finally got around to doing the whole 9 yards with them: bleaching, trimming and tweezing.
I usually just tweeze a bit and trim when the lil hairs get long and my brows start looking a bit thick. Just doin the bare minimum too keep my forehead from looking caveman like. Lol.
I feel that my new phone cam is not up to par with my IG and mobile blogging needs! 😖
Oh well..
Til next time chocopies!

King of the Fall

Crossplay as Abel Tesfaye The Weeknd
I'm in my city camoed out, leather booted, kissin b(&*^%^^& in the club.

So, I decided to Abel-ify myself last night. I was having wayyy to much fun with this. lol.
It was on my mind for a while, so I decided to try it out. I used black eyeshadow, a bit of mascara, gel liner, and my dark brown eye brow pencil to create my brows, beard and moustache, and to also help with that sleepy, tired, and kinda stoned look that he always has going on... Well, save for some pictures where he is smiling. LOL

The Weeknd
d'awww!
The Weeknd
So moody!

Though I totally couldn't get my hair like his... nor a wig that I pretty much destroyed... I think I came pretty close for my first try!

And you have to do it all just to know where it gets you.

You can also check out my vine to see me lip sync to his song lol.

Until next time!!

Be Cool Cat as You Listen to Music

Cool Cat ear Headphones
Source: http://www.axentwear.com/
In a world where the majority of the population has a music player of some sort attached to them, it is no question that having a trusty pair of headphones that also look good is a staple.
The thing is, that in this world where you need a trusty pair of headphones to listen to your favorite tunes, there are so many different varieties, looks and colours that are available to choose from!
Loving technology and being a part of a tech and gaming group, I think it was a no brainer that my attention was going to be captured by these nifty pair of headphones I saw on Tumblr from Axent.
Being a cat person myself, these won even more points in my heart!

The design of the models from Axent is sleek, futuristic and to top it all off very trendy even for the more discerning of eccentric otaku, nerd and techie tastes.
Besides being stylish and just super cool, you can also use these headphones as speakers too to share your music with your friends and the world! Or, if you would rather listen to your music by yourself, that is always an option too.
You can also have the ears light up. Another thing about these headphones is that you can either have the cord attached or not to the ears while listening to your music, giving you a little bit more freedom compared to some other models of headphones on the market.
You can check out their website here: http://www.axentwear.com/.
What do you all think about these headphones? If you were to get one, what would be your go to colour?

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy belated Valentines or Single Awareness day! After getting home from work and meeting a potential roommate, Sandra and I decided to hit up Sakura lounge for a Vday date of sorts.

My Galentine's date *w*)

idek lol

There was lots of singing and the place looked super cute with all the Valentines Day decorations! The night had started off slow, but gained some momentum as more people filed in to bring in some Valentine's cheer with friends and/or lovers.
Its always fun to sing and even more so when you sing with other karaoke lovers! Even more fun to photobomb people's pictures!! > : D

looks like I'm going to a happy hour after work. >o<;

We sang a lot of fun songs... I had to sing some Nicki Minaj songs. heh heh heh. We stayed til like... 4am I think, I had a drunk old Chinese guy sit in my lap and gave me the juiciest kiss on my cheek (He was a total lady killer that night fosho)... then Sandra and I followed up with some nice early morning niblets.

I got pretty sad that my VDay heart balloon floated away though! lol. dammit...

The Weekend

Lishas outfit

On Saturday, I had some Thai foodz. I had some snails with a delicious, creamy , spicy Thai sauce, a Fire Dragon roll, and some nigiri at Butterfly. And of courrrrssseeee, an avocado smoothie!! They couldn't make it with any bananas, but it was so good!

Butterfly Thai Restaurant

I tried snails (aka escargot)!! They were good, spicy, and squishy.
 The atmosphere was amazing at Butterfly. I never been at a restaurant that played trance music!! Pleasant surprise! ^o^ Plus.... the nigiri was too big to fit all in my mouth at once!! >A<;

Got in a lil bit of foot work on this dance machine at Dave and Busters! Whew....
And also played a bit of pool. I know you are supposed to use angles and all that... but I wanted to try just hitting the balls head on this time! I got a few in, and lost the game with 3 balls on the table. Next time, I will do better. Just need more practice....
~~~~~~
Saturday
So, I decided to watch a little bit of t.v. yesterday. I don't watch it very often because
 1.I just mostly stick to whatever is on the Youtube.
 2. I'm working or making something.
Listened to a bit of the Bulls game, then decided to break away from note writing and watched some of the Grammy's. I liked Sia's performance with the dancers. Very touching. Much emotion. <3
Kanye almost pulled a Kanye lol. The guy from Beck looked a lil confused lol.
Kanye and Beck
I also watched a buncha different stuff too. Even an episode of the Walking Dead. I'm not a big zombie fan like some people I know... and the episode was pretty sad! Like, dayum! Too intense for me!
>_____o
Not sure how my friends watch that series a lot though....
Also... Steve Yeun looks kinda like a teacher I had before... lol. Just with longer hair and less tan I think.
Realness
It was nice to just chill out and watch a little bit of t.v. for once. ^o^ Time to get back on the grind!
>__o
Peace out!
SuperBowl!
So I watched the superbowl for the first time in YEARS! I walked in at the halftime show, and I liked it! I did enjoy people poking fun at Katy Perry on twitter though LOL. Talking about Wii remote controller wrist bands, and comparing her to the " The More You Know" from years past lol.
Hee hee hee
I also got super excited seeing Missy Elliot perform too! OMG! YESSSSS!! Her weave was so on point! ogjaerjkgeriogjeriogj;o
WELCOME BACK MISSY!!!
I also saw a super sweet tackle too at the last half of the game. Like, the guy swung in mid air on this guy he latched on to! Super cool. hehehehe
Well, Peace out Chocopies!
Uchi Con 2015
I decided to spontaneously make my way to my old stomping grounds to visit Uchi Con at the University of Chicago in Hyde Park. It was a relatively small convention, but there was a great turn out for the year!
Selfie time with my friend's hat
 After seeing quite a few familiar faces from my college and high school days, getting in some dancing time and pictures, Crys and I headed downtown and decided to stop for a quick splurge on ice cream. Yes, ice cream in the winter time. The cold never bothered me anywayz...
She got Snicker and cookie dough ice cream, while I went with chocolate (duh) and mint choco chip!
